Saluting multi-lingual spirit

Pune, March 16 The Marathwada Mitra Mandal's College of Commerce where Spanish, French, German and Japanese languages are taught at the undergraduate and post-graduate level celebrated the Global Languages Day recently in a bid to salute the multi-lingual spirit. The function began with the lighting of the traditional lamp. Chief guest Prof B G Jadhav discussed the "window on to the world" nature of languages. Prasad Joshi of the Protrans Pvt Ltd presented the various possibilities open in the field. Yoichi Sugino of Sutra Systems spoke about the Japanese examination system and the Japanese culture.

The day was marked by students' performances and presentations in Spanish, French, Japanese and German. Students presented a Cuban play, French, Japanese and German songs as well as power point presentations on the cultural aspects of Germany, Japan and Spain. There was also a poster display on the some facets of these cultures. College principal Prof M D Lawrence proposed a vote of thanks.
