Sandeep claims snooker title

Chandigarh, May 16 Sandeep Kochar lifted the snooker title by scoring a 4-2 win over Ajay Singla in the final of the Seventh Saurabh Khattar Memorial Billiards and Snooker Championship being played at Chandigarh Club on Friday.

Displaying a controlled game, Kochar showed his dominance through out the match to end the challenge of Singla to claim the title.

Sandeep Kochar lost the first frame 29-64. Kochar regained his form and then clinched the second frame with a margin of 59-54. Kochar shot into early lead in the frame but Singla fought back his way before Kochar claimed the second frame 59-54. The third frame of the match was completely one-sided as Kochar claimed the third frame with a margin of 86-04. Singla then fought back his way as he won the fourth frame 56-41 before Kochar won the fifth frame with a margin of 60-38. Displaying a more attacking game, Kochar showed his brilliance in the fifth frame and won it comfortably 60-38. In the decisive frame, it was Kochar again who stole the limelight by clinching it by a margin of 61-42 to claim the title.

In billiards, Sandeep Singh Chadha won the title as he scored a comfortable 3-0 win over Pankaj Gulati in the final. Taking control of the match, Chadha claimed a keenly fought first game of the match by a margin of 75068. he then steam rolled Gulati's challenge by first winning the second game 77-41 and then wrapped up the match by claiming the final game with a margin of 75-51. Pradeep Chabra, mayor, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh distributed the prizes to the winners.
