A former head of the Lucknow city unit of the RSS, Varshney now heads the Kanpur prant of the organisation. Beri was head of the UP unit of the RSS until March and was then elevated to the national executive of the RSS. Shiv Narayan Tripathi, prant pracharak of Kashi, replaced him as UP chief of the organisation in May.
The CBI, after obtaining custody of Gupta and Lokesh Sharma from an Ajmer court for questioning in the Mecca Masjid case, had taken them to Hyderabad on June 15. The RSS men, who had earlier been served notice to get their statements recorded before the CBI, had gone to Hyderabad with their lawyer and were questioned between June 21 and 25.
Sources in the RSS, however, maintained that Varshney was questioned in Gorakhpur where he was attending an RSS officers training camp while Beri was spoken to in Delhi.
A CBI officer in Delhi said Varshney and Beri were questioned in the presence of Gupta who was arrested by the Rajasthan police in April this year.
Varshney, the officer said, admitted that he arranged for Gupta’s stay in Kanpur during October and November 2009. Gupta told CBI that Beri organised accommodation for him in Lucknow and Sitapur during the same period but Beri, the officer said, denied this.
Gupta left for Muzaffarpur in Bihar and attended a RSS function there on December 25. Beri and Varshney were in touch with Gupta during his stay in Bihar and Jharkhand too, the officer said.
The RSS men, the officer claimed, admitted they were aware that Gupta was a suspect in the Ajmer blast case but both denied knowledge of any plot leading to the blasts at Mecca Masjid and Ajmer Sharif.
The CBI questioned them about Ramchandra Kalsangra alias Ramji and Sandeep Dange alias Parmanand, also wanted for the Ajmer and Malegaon blasts, but Varshney and Beri said they did not know the two men.
According to the officer, the two RSS men were also asked about the August 25, 2008 explosion in Kanpur which killed two Bajrang Dal activists. Beri said he did not know them but Varshney admitted having met one of them, Bhupinder Singh, at Bajrang Dal gatherings, the officer said.
Rajiv Mishra was the other man who died with Bhupinder Singh while they were allegedly assembling a bomb in a flat owned by Mishra in the Kalyanpur area of Kanpur. Forensic tests found remains of potassium chlorate and arsenic sulphide at the spot. Some country-made grenades and timer devices too were found in the room.

How then can religious harmony be achieved if some religions declare other religions to be false?

According to the Maharashtra ATS, they found the number plate of a motorbike registered under the name of Sadhwi Pragya Singh from the blast site which led to her arrest in connection with the Malegaon Blast. I wonder how a "terrorist" who was allegedly getting advice from an experienced military strategist of the rank of Lt. Col. would leave such an incriminating evidence for the police to pick her up so fast; within about a month after the blast. Why did he not advise her that using a bike with her number plate would lead to her immediate arrest? If this is the quality of military strategists of the Indian Army, then even God will not be able to defend the nation. I think, the "evidence" was left at the blast site to be picked up too fast. According to some reports, she had earlier sold the bike to an ABVP activist who allegedly was murdered by SIMI activists later. So, what if the SIMI activists planted the evidence. Interestingly, ATS could not prove anything till now.
Mr Sankaran, Narco analysis reports which showed that individuals associated with the RSS, VHP and Bajrang Dal were developing terror modules. Two recruits died assembling bombs in Nanded. The four accused underwent training to make IEDs under Mithun Chakraborty in Pune. His name has surfaced once again in the current Malegaon investigation. Mr. Ranjit, you seem to forget that there was a court order saying that NARCO analysis results cannot be used as evidence. I did not say that the Malegaon accused were innocent or guilty. That is something to be decided by the courts. The RSS, Bajrang Dal or VHP activists who died allegedly while trying to assemble bombs and explosives should have been amateurs. But an alleged terrorist getting advice from a senior military strategist making such a fatal mistake of leaving a self-incriminating evidence at the blast site is, to say the least incredible. And your assumption about LTTE brainwash makes me laugh, because I am not even an Indian Tamil. And now, the ATSs of different Congress ruled states are trying to link the Malegaon accused for the Samjhauta Express blast also, which the IB had said was the work of some Islamic terrorists.
People dying while assembling ammunition, and ham-handed way of setting up explosives only shows a lack of dedicated training which fundamentalists of another hue is getting at pakistani camps from battle hardened expert terrosrist. Please show same compassion against occupation of J&K by pakistan, protest against Godhra Carnage, allow Tajmahal to be tejomahalaya, ask pakistan to end activities against India. This is nonsense, this is plotted against BJP & RSS to defame the patriatic Hindus (Indians) all alegations are baseless, same thing happend in recent Goa blasts, Congress is having only one opposition that is BJP if they defame BJP no other party to compete with. so they can rule another 50 years and give away Kashmir, Assam other parts of India and one day whole India to other countries. This is the fate of our country, after thousands of years struggle we got indipendence but we gave it bloody congress buggers.
Dear Anil, What gave you the idea that BJP & RSS are patriotic while other are not. These two organizations no longer have any credibility. They ruled India and did exactly what they accuse other parties of doing. Loot and scoot. Now they have lost their fig leaf of patriotism. Do something for the country if you want to regain credibility. Nobody is giving away Kashmir...did you do anything to bring it closer to India??? There is no greater independance than economic independance...which you did nothing for!!
Clearly terrorism is not an Islamic monopoly. Hindus radical groups have done it in the past (assisination of Gandhi) and continue to do it.
