Sanjay Kumar is UT Finance Secy

Chandigarh, January 10 Sanjay Kumar taken over the charge of UT’s Finance Secretary from S K Sandhu here today.

The Forty-six-year-old, a Punjab cadre IAS officer of 1988 batch, hails from Bihar. He was posted as Secretary Expenditure, Punjab, before joining the UT. He was also the Chief Administrator of PUDA.

His first deputation to UT was in 1996-98 when the present UT Adviser, Pradip Mehra, was also holding the charge of Adviser in his earlier term.

Talking to the mediapersons, Kumar said his earlier term with the administration would come handy. A large number of officers from the administration were present to welcome the new Finance Secretary. S K Sandhu, an IAS officer of 1987 batch, was also given a farewell on the occasion.

UT cop Randhawa is SP City
The UT Home Secretary today issued promotion orders of DSP S S Randhawa of the UT police. After SP (City) Baldev Singh, Randhawa becomes the second UT police officer to be promoted to the rank of SP (City). Randhawa, who completed 16 years of service as DSP last year, had represented his case before the senior officials pleading them to promote him against the post of SP (City).
Randhawa joined Chandigarh Police as Assistant Sub-Inspector in 1972. He was promoted to the rank of Inspector in 1985 and then to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police in 1991. Randhawa, who had presented Guard of Honour thrice to the Vice-Presidents of the country on their arrival in Chandigarh, is the only DSP to have been entrusted with such a responsibility. Randhawa, who bagged President's Police Medal for Distinguished Services and Meritorious Services has served as DSP (Traffic), DSP (Central) and DSP (South) during his tenure.
