Satyam Computer

New Delhi Amid concerns being raised over its revival, the scandal-hit Satyam Computer on Tuesday said it has won as many as 15 new outsourcing contracts in January from clients in the US, Europe and rest of the world.

"The company has got three new contracts from the US market, including one each in insurance and pharmaceuticals and a contract extension from an existing technology unit," a Satyam spokesperson said over phone from Hyderabad.

The development will also help several suitors in the fray to firm up plans on acquiring the company, which has attracted interest from corporate majors like L&T, Mahindras, Spice group and Hindujas.

"In Europe, the company has managed to win two accounts - one in the chemical manufacturing sector and the other in the services business," the spokesperson added.

Besides, there are 10 other contracts from the rest of the world, including renewals in Japan, Africa, Middle East, Asia-Pacific and Australia-New Zealand regions, she added.

The news of new contract wins would also boost the morale of thousands of employees at the beleaguered IT firm, which is struggling to keep operations afloat in the aftermath of a massive financial wrongdoing disclosed by its founder B Ramalinga Raju last month.

Despite the crisis, the company saw just one client -- US-based State Farm Insurance -- terminating its contract in January, the spokesperson noted.

ICAI, a badly failed regulator by Sanjoy Gupta on 03 Feb 2009

Credibility of Satyam has not dimmed. It is ICAI as a regulator who has lost all credibility. ICAI is now perceived as a failed regulator of its CAs.

HCL should also be scrutinised by Paul on 03 Feb 2009

Barring Raju, Satyam is a good company and will bounce back. The need of the day is to investigate the Accounts of HCL. It would beneficial for HCL employees and HCL shareholders who have put so much of money and stake.

Satyam is always good with Raju also. In the present investigations it could not be yet established that he has done personal fraud and siphoned out the funds. As of now the vindication is that he has inflated the assets to boost up the company to stand in the market as it is said in the 4th position. Today if Satyam has its glory like this it is because of individual skills of Ramalinga Raju. His role in building good team
