Patna, June 23: A key accused in the sensational Satyendra Dubey murder case on Monday escaped from the Patna civil court premises where he was produced before a special CBI judge.

Police said Uday Chaudhary removed his oversized handcuff outside the court room and escaped. This is the second time that Uday has escaped from court premises. He had given policemen the slip when he fled in December 2006.

Pinku, who along with Uday and Mantu Kumar, the other accused in the case, was brought to the court, said he saw Uday running towards the Ganga from the southern side of the court complex and then he vanished.

Earlier in September 2005, Mantu Kumar too had escaped from court premises.

Dubey, an engineer with the National Highway Authority of India, was shot dead on November 27, 2003 when he was on way to his house in Gaya town from the railway station, within a few months after his confidential letter to the Prime Minister’s office regarding corruption in the golden quadrilateral project was allegedly leaked.
