Kolkata, March 29 Members of the Trinamool Congress-backed Krishi Jami Banchao Committee on Saturday blocked the Durgapur Expressway to protest against the murder of a worker at the Tata Motors project site.

The body of Rajkumar Biswakarma was recovered from the Tata Motors factory site on Friday.

He used to drive a dumper at the construction area. The body had head injuries and was discovered early on Friday. It was later sent for postmortem. His relatives have filed a complaint with the police alleging murder.

On Saturday, around 400 villagers from different areas of Singur blocked the expressway. The blockade was lifted after an hour. Committee convenor Becharam Manna said, “The area has become unsafe after the project started. CPM is behind the murder.”

Meanwhile, a police team visited the site and interrogated workers. But till now, according to sources, the sleuths have failed to make much headway.
