The pavilion at the Samaira Polo Cup was buzzing with the swish set—cigar baron Chetan Seth, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, Sheetal Ansal, MP Yashodhara Raje and model Nikita Anand —for the first match of the season on a crisp Sunday afternoon in Delhi. Keeping the guests waiting was Karisma Kapoor, who flew in from Mumbai to root for husband Sunjay Kapur. “I’m not here to add glamour quotient; it’s strictly a family occasion,” she said, in a black Dolce and Gabbana ensemble. About the absence of daughter Samaira—after whom the tournament is named— the former actor told an acquaintance: “She is too small to accompany me for this. Besides, it is a very dangerous game.” After posing for shutterbugs, she said she was waiting for the right film, “ with a role that touched my heart”, to make a comeback. If you want to know how the match went, Kingfisher First beat Cavalry Red to win the trophy and the Rs 1 lakh cheque.
