According to the plan, the car dealers running their business in Sector 7 will be charged Rs 150 per car, instead of Rs 500 for the space they occupy. This is being done considering the fact that the vendors who sell their product in the apni mandi are being charged money in proportion to the area covered by them, while at the car bazar there is no such limit on the area covered.

On Sunday, Joint Municipal Commissioner-I, T P S Phoolka, alongwith the area councillor, visited the car bazar to inspect the situation prevailing there. During the visit, they found that each car dealer was covering a large area, which they believed was not commensurate to the little money they pay to the MC.

Confirming the idea of charging money according to the number of cars with the dealer, Councillor Chandermukhi Sharma said he had requested the MC authorities to charge Rs 150 per vehicle from the dealers. “They are using prime land and are paying nothing in return. On the one hand, we are talking about removing encroachment by displacing the rehriwalas and charging a hefty amount from them for using a small space in apni mandis then why not charge the car dealers,” he added.
