Chandigarh, March 12 The Circus Ground in Sector 17 is all set to be developed as an exhibition ground along with a number of facilities like sidewall, lights, toilet blocks, rainwater pipes among others.

Informing about the decision, Mayor Pardeep Chhabra said that facilities on the lines of those in Parade Ground in Sector 17 would be provided here. The ground will be a good earning source of the Municipal Corporation, it was added.

In another significant decision, the Mayor said it has also been decided to modernise the remaining seven dhobighats during this financial year. The decision was taken after the success of the first Laundry Mart at Sector 15-D, which was inaugurated on January 18 this year.

The mart has been started on ‘no profit no loss’ basis for one year. The modernisation of the remaining dhobighats had been included in the current financial budget.

The Mayor instructed the concerned officers to take up the issue after listening to the washermen associations, so that their requirements would also be fulfilled.
