Security stepped up in Ghaziabad after terrorist threats

Ghaziabad, December 8: Security has been beefed up in the wake of terrorist threat to blow off Ghaziabad railway station and other important buildings on December 10.

"Additional forces have been deployed at all important places, including railways station, government buildings, jails and malls, Senior Superintendent of Police Deepak Ratan said, adding bomb disposal and dog squads have been alerted to meet any exigencies.

Besides, prohibitory orders under Section 144 of IPC have been imposed, banning assembly of four or more persons and carrying of firearms at public places in Ghaziabad till January 6.

According to the District Magistrate Deepak Aggarwal, "Carrying of arms in marriage parties have also been banned and licenses of the firearms holders carrying them to parties will be cancelled with immediate effect."

"Railway Police Force (RPF) and Ground Railway Police are being completely assisted by local police in frisking passengers in trains," SSP Ratan said.

Talking about the security of the main suspect in the Varanasi serial blasts case, Wallilullah, SSP Ratan said, "A contingent of 40 police personnels escort him as and when he is taken out from jail to court."

Jail Superintendent V K Singh added that he has been kept in a solitary cell and nobody is allowed to meet him keeping in view his security.
