Seminar for curators at PCA tomorrow

Mohali, March 9 The much hyped Indian Premier League (IPL) will kick-off from April 18 and eight teams - Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mohali and Mumbai - will feature in the inaugural tournament to be held at different centers. In order to provide world class ground facilities and pitches, IPL has constituted a Cricket Committee with MAK Pataudi as chairman and BCCI joint secretary, MP Pandove, as co-chairman. Accordingly, the committee has decided to conduct a seminar for the curators and turf managers of all the IPL match-staging centers on March 11 and 12 at PCA Stadium, Mohali. Daljit Singh, chairman of BCCI's Ground and Pitches Committee, will conduct the seminar. IPL has invited Les Burdett, a world-renowned curator from Adelaide Oval, Australia, Dhiraj Prasanna and PR Viswanathan in addition to one curator and one turf manager from all the centers. Pataudi will inaugurate the seminar on March 11 at 9.30 am. The seminar will deal with outfield preparation, ground inspection, review of maintenance equipment, review of grounds and specific action for each ground and most importantly, wicket preparation.
