While the Shiv Sena had contested 22 seats in the 2004 election, leaving 26 Lok Sabha seat for the BJP, the party is interested in getting 24 seats, 2 more than the last time.
On Tuesday, former LS speaker and Shjiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP Manohar Joshi has met BJP Maharashtra chief Nitin Gadkari and also met BJP national general secretary and former Deputy Chief Minister Gopinath Munde on Wednesday to discuss the issue.
The Sena-BJP leaders said that the disputes over the seats will be resolved soon and a formal announcement would be made by the leaders of both parties, probably after discharge of Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray from the hospital.
