Washington A top intelligence-official designate of the Obama Administration has appreciated the leadership of India and Pakistan who are trying to resolve their issues without resorting to warfare.

"I know quite a few Indian leaders from my past and have met many Pakistani leaders. On both sides there is recognition that a war between them would be a bad thing for both countries," said Dennis Blair, who has been nominated as National Intelligence Director.

Blair said this in response to a question during an interaction with reporters following his confirmation hearing by the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.

"I think, there are sensible people who are trying to solve issues without resorting to warfare," he said on Thursday.

"We are very worried that both (India and Pakistan) have nuclear weapons... and very clearly it would be for the first war between two nuclear powers... we are aware of that situation," Blair said.

Earlier, testifying before Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, Blair identified Security of Pak's nuclear arsenal and peace and stability in South Asia issues of near-term concern for the US.

He said that managing the growing power and influence of China and India are among the key long-term challenge of the US intelligence and policymakers.

Indo-Pak War by Avinash Baranwal on 23 Jan 2009

Bulshit opinion.Pakistan will be foolish to use Nukes and India does not need nuke to defeat Pakistan. This US guy is creating an unnecessary issue.War has never been good for any country...But it happens. US also indulged in war...for it's own benefit. A lecture from them is hyperbole. But India must do what it thinks will help. Pakistan is a foolish country...They are ignoring their developments and indulged in negative mentality.
