Sept car sales up, bike sales dip 18%

New Delhi, October 10: Passenger car sales in the domestic market during September grew by 11.67 per cent to 1,05,822 units against 94,757 units in the corresponding month a year ago.

According to the monthly sales figures released by the Society of Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) on Wednesday, motorcycle sales in the domestic market during September declined 18.40 per cent to 5,48,816 units compared to 6,72,570 units in the same month last year.

Total two-wheelers sales in September this year stood at 6,79,766 units against 7,82,930 units in the year-ago period, down 13.17 per cent year-on-year.

Commercial vehicles sales were marginally up at 42,770 units compared to 42,364 units in September 2006.
