Ludhiana, March 17 Three policemen have been booked in separate criminal cases over the last few days. A magisterial probe has been ordered against a station house officer for misbehaving with a local youth. The SHO, meanwhile, has been transferred to Police Lines.

Ludhiana SSP R K Jaiswal has ordered a magisterial probe against Shimlapuri SHO Balwinder Singh for misbehaving with a youth, Gurdeep Singh, a resident of Shimlapuri.

On Sunday, Shimlapuri SHO Balwinder Singh was shifted to Police Lines. Last week, Gurdeep had claimed that the SHO had harassed him at Shimlapuri Police Station for hours together. He had also claimed that the SHO had pulled his beard and moustache.

Late on Saturday evening, Sarabha Nagar police had booked and arrested a sub-inspector for stealing a car and then injuring two PAU guards.

The SI had been suspended on the same day in the morning for not properly investigating an NDPS case. The SI, however, claimed that he had not stolen the car and had done this by mistake due to his being under depression.

Earlier, on March 13, two policemen, Balbinder Singh and Pawan Kumar, were arrested for molesting a 17-year-old girl in the Civil Hospital.

Said SSP (Urban) R K Jaiswal, “When these incidents occurred, we didn’t waste even a single minute in bringing the guilty to the book. The accused policemen will not be dealt with leniently.”

Said Ludhiana Range DIG Ishwar Singh, “The accused have to face double the punishment. Apart from the fact that they have been booked, they also have to face departmental inquiry.”
