Sessions court issues notice to 14 accused in Juhu molestation case

Mumbai, January 10 The sessions court on Thursday issued notice to the 14 young men accused of allegedly molesting two NRI women in Juhu on New Year’s day after the state filed a criminal revision application on Wednesday seeking their custody.

The accused were released from the Arthur Road jail on Tuesday. They were granted bail on a surety of Rs 10,000 each by the Andheri metropolitan magistrate on the ground that they were charged with bailable offences.

Additional sessions judge, SN Sardesai adjourned the case to February 4.

Meanwhile, demanding back innocents not to be framed in the Juhu molestation case, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief, Raj Thackeray met deputy chief minister, RR Patil at his residence on Thursday evening with the accused. During the meeting, Raj demanded that while the guilty in the case have to be punished, the innocents should not be framed in the case.

Executive Committee Memmber of MNS student wing, Abhishke Sasre who was part of the delegations said that one of the accused Amit Kapoor had in fact shown Patil his credit card chits to prove that he was at Vashi on the night of the incident at 10.50 pm. Kapoor also showed willingness to produce his friends who would testify about his presence in Vashi on that day.

“Despite this, how was Kapur recognised in the identification parade as one of the molestors?” questioned Sasre.
