Sports facilities
Stadia and warmup area
Plan: The village will house training areas for athletes. The area will have a fitness centre, an Olympic- sized swimming pool, an athletics track and an indoor hall for wrestling and weightlifting

Along railway line
Noise barrier
Plan: A 1.1-km long sound barrier will be built along the railway tracks facing the Commonwealth Games Village complex between Tilak Bridge and Anand Vihar Railway Stations on the Delhi-Ghaziabad section of Northern Railways. This is being done to ensure that noise created by the running of trains (around 75.5 decibels) in that section is blocked out of the village. Technical assistance for the creation of this sound barrier is being provided
status: Project would take about 3-4 months to be implemented. Railways will undertake it a few months before the Games
Residential facilities
For athletes and staff
Plan: The contract to construct the residential zone has been awarded to Emaar-MGF which has already started the construction of apartment complexes that will house approximately 8,000 athletes. The complex will include approximately 1,161 apartments comprising 4,000 bedrooms. The apartments range from 1,250 square feet to 3,000 square feet in size and will be spread across 34 towers that are 5-9 storeys high
status: While the sample flats are ready, construction on the residential complex is underway. Sources at Emaar-MGF confirm that the residential zone will be completed by March 2010. As of now about 3% of the work is done
Green cover
Landscaping/area development
Plan: A thick plantation will be grown on the sloping terrain stretching over 50-100 meters along roads and railway corridor. It will consist of non-deciduous, straight trees with dense bushes and shrubs in between. The Forest Research Institute of Dehradun has been monitoring the soil and guiding the authorities on the kind of plants and trees ought to be planted here
status: Because of the nature of the work, landscaping is an ongoing process and will reach culmination by July 2010, when the village will be handed over to the organising committee
