Shamsher emerges as strongest judoka

Chandigarh, February 3 Shamsher bagged the gold medal in the open category in the the Senior Chandigarh State Judo Championship that concluded here in the Sports Complex, Sector 42, Chandigarh on Sunday. Shamsher won the title in the category normally meant for competitors over 100 kg class. Anil Johra picked up the silver while Saurab and Amit clinched the bronze medal in the same category.

In the under-100 kg men’s category, Amit Yadav bagged the gold medal while Saurabh Jagota picked up silver medal. The bronze went to Kaushal in the same category.

In the under-90 kg class, Kuljinder Singh won the gold medal while Anil Jaura bagged the silver medal. In the under-81 kg class, Kuljinder Singh picked up the gold while Kuldeep picked up the silver. Mandeep emerged as the winner in the under-73 kg class while the silver medal went to Parveen Kumar.

Ashu Batra bagged the bronze medal in the same event. In the under-66 kg category, the gold medal went to Hardeep Singh while in the under-60 kg category, Vipin Kumar claimed the gold medal.

In the women’s section, Yogesh won the gold in open class while Harsha picked up the silver. Sukanya and Simran pocketed the bronze medal in the same category.

In the under-78 kg category, harsha clinched the gold medal while in the under-70 kg category, Yakshi bagged the gold medal.

Simranjeet clinched the gold medal in the under-63 kg category while Yogesh bagged the silver medal. In the under-57 kg category, Jyoti bagged the gold medal while the silver was clichéd by Reeta Gupta.

In the under-52 kg event in the same category, Komal Saini grabbed the gold medal while in the under-48 kg category, Sarita clinched the gold medal.

Results: Mens’ Category: 56 kg: Gold- Sagar Dewan, 60 kg: Gold- Vipin Kumar, 66 kg: Gold- Hardeep Singh, 73 kg: Gold- Mandeep, Silver- Parveen Kumar, Bronze- Ashu Batra, 81 kg: Gold- Shamsher, Silver- Kuldeep, 90 kg: Gold- Kuljinder, Silver- Anil Jaura, 100 kg: Gold-Amit Yadav Silver- Saurab Jagota Bronze- Kaushal, Open: Gold-Samsher Silver-Anil Johra , Bronze- Saurab and Amit.

Womens’ Category: 48 kg: Gold- Sarita, 52 kg: Gold- Komal Saini, 57 kg: Gold- Jyoti Silver- Reeta Gupta, 63 kg: Gold- Simranjeet, Silver- Yogesh, 70 kg: Gold- Yakshi, 78 kg: Gold- Harsha, Open: Gold-Yogesh Silver -Harsha Bronze- Sukanya and Simran.
