Ludhiana, January 5 The Ludhiana police have sent five persons, arrested in the Shingaar Cinema blast case, to the special interrogation cell of the Punjab police at Amritsar for further questioning.

Meanwhile, the Ludhiana police have got another two days to interrogate the five accused. A local court today extended their police remand by two days.

According to highly placed sources, Gurpreet Singh alias Khalsa, Sandeep Singh alias Harry, Palwinder Singh alias Pappu, Ravinder Singh alias Rinku and Jasbir Singh will be sent to a special interrogation cell in Amritsar.

Earlier in the day, the accused were produced in the court of the duty magistrate Vijay Kumar.

The police sought the police remand of these persons saying that the case was very sensitive and they wanted to further question the accused. The police said one accused is still at large and efforts are on to nab him as well. Accepting the police plea, the court sent the five persons in the custody of the Ludhiana police till January 7.

Meanwhile, Ludhiana range DIG Ishwar Singh and SSP RK Jaiswal told Newsline that for the time being their efforts were to nab the absconding accused Harminder Singh. SSP Jaiswal said, “We are sending the accused to Amritsar. We might get a few more leads in the case.”

On December 30, the Ludhiana police had claimed to have solved the blast case with the arrest of the four persons.

The police had also claimed to have seized 5 kg RDX, some detonators and other firearms from the arrested persons. Punjab DGP NPS Aulakh had announced this at a press conference in the city last week. Later, the police had arrested Jasbir Singh.
