Ludhiana, January 2 Gurpreet Singh, one of the main accused in the Shingaar Cinema blast and the RDX haul case, has told police that he had “seen a person like Wadhawa Singh Babbar during training course in Pakistan”. Gurpreet Singh is being interrogated by Ludhiana police.

Wadhawa Singh Babbar and Mehal Singh Babbar are considered to be the founding members of Babbar Khalsa International.

“Gurpreet has told us that he and Harminder Singh had gone to a Gurdwara in Lahore from where some people took them to a training camp. Gurpreet said he did not know the name of the place or the people who took him along but at the training centre he said he saw a person like Wadhawa Singh Babbar alias Chacha,” said SSP R K Jaiswal.

All four main accused in the case, Gurpreet Singh, Sandeep Singh, Ravinder Singh and Palwinder Singh, were presented in different courts today.

They have been sent to police custody till January 5. Harminder Singh is still absconding.

Ludhiana Police also claim to have arrested one Jasvir Singh, a resident of Ludhiana, with 315 gm of RDX. “Jasvir Singh has told us that he had met Harminder Singh and had asked him to keep the RDX. Harminder Singh and Sarabjeet Singh Ghuman are on our wanted list and we will get them very soon,” said Jaiswal.

Meanwhile, the Ludhiana Rural interrogation team is waiting for the Ludhiana Police to wind up with interrogation. “We are waiting for the Ludhiana Police’s remand to end. We will bring all these men to Jagraon. We have FIRs listed against these boys by name,” said SSP Ludhiana Rural Gurpreet Singh Bhullar.

“At our end, we are trying to look at those who are at the helm of the racket, those who are financing these boys and giving them targets. These boys seem to be motivated enough to take such huge risks...,” said Bhullar.
