Shingaar cinema blast: suspect held from Delhi

Ludhiana, February 26 The Ludhiana police has arrested another suspect in connection with the Shingaar cinema blast case. The man, identified as Bhupinder Singh, a resident of Batala, was arrested by a team of Dakha police today from the Delhi airport while he was trying to flee abroad.

Confirming the arrest, Ludhiana SSP R K Jaiswal said, “Singh was one of our main suspects in the blast case. We will now further investigate his involvement in the blast.”

After he was brought to the city, Singh was produced in a local court, which sent him in police custody for two days.

As many as six persons died and 32 were injured in a blast at the Shingaar cinema last year in October.

The Ludhiana police had arrested six persons and recovered RDX from them.

Those arrested include Gurpreet Singh alias Khalsa (the main accused in the case), Sandeep Singh alias Harry, Palwinder Singh alias Pappu, Ravinder Singh alias Rinku and Bhavdeep Singh.
