Shivratri celebrated in city

Ludhiana, March 6 Shivratri was celebrated with traditional gaiety and fervour in the city today. All the temples were decked up with flowers and buntings. Since morning, the devotees started thronging to the temples to offer special prayers to Lord Shiv. Bhajan groups sang bhajans to enthrall the visitors.

Sanglan Walan Shivalaya in old city witnessed a heavy rush of people. There was a good rush at the other temples too. A large number of people observed fast to mark Shivratri, and some also observed ‘maun vrat’. Senior Deputy Mayor Parveen Bansal also observed ‘maun vrat’ today. Devotees of Lord Shiv sang bhajans in His praise. In the evening, neon bulbs brightly illuminated the temples.
