‘Short-term training planned for unemployed youth’

Ludhiana, January 16 Captain Kanwaljit Singh, Punjab Cooperation Minister, has informed that the state government has chalked out a special plan to provide short term vocational training to the less educated unemployed youth in routine vocations by setting up of Skill Development Centers in all parts of the state.

He highlighted that in this way, they would be able to get the jobs in industry and other related trades. Singh was addressing a gathering of youth at the 22nd Jarkhar Sports Festival in Mata Sahib Kaur Sports Stadium at Jarkhar village, 15 kms from here last evening.

Captain Kanwaljit highlighted that the state government has set up a separate employment department exclusively to explore the new jobs, created with the modernization of industry in the state. He said that this wing is also providing assistance and guidance to youth in getting training in various ventures, and in getting jobs in various different parts of country and abroad.

Welcoming the Pakistani wrestlers participating in the tournament, Captain Singh said that such exchange programs between the players and other cultural groups from two countries will further help in improving the understanding among the people of both countries.

He appreciated the contribution of Jarkhar Sports Club for creating excellent sports infrastructure in the village.
