Panaji, February 19: South Goa district administration on Tuesday granted time till March seven to actor Sanjay Dutt's wife Manyata, to explain as to why her residence certificate in connection with her court marriage should not be cancelled.

Manyata, who was asked to remain present in person in the court of 'Mamlatdar' (district administration officer), was represented by an advocate.

Mamlatdar Paresh Faldesai has granted time till March 7 to the 32-year-old to reply to the show cause notice, served in the residence certificate issue, officials said.

The authorities had kept Sanjay Dutt and Manyata's marriage on hold after the residence certificate submitted by her to Sub Registrar (Salcette) was suspended by them.

The couple had submitted their declaration of marriage on February seven awaiting final signature which needs to be done within 90 days.

Advocate Manoj Desai, representing Manyata, on Tuesday also sought clarification from the Mamlatdar on the basis on which he had claimed that Manyata was not staying at the given address.

Manyata had stated that she has been staying at Aquem, a sub urban locality adjacent to South Goa's Margao town. The show cause notice, however said that she had wrongly mentioned her address.

With Tuesday's development, the couple's marriage continues to be on hold.
