New Delhi, March 4: Shiv Sena on Tuesday asked politicians to show ‘restraint’ in reacting to incidents in Mumbai warning that the move to whip up anti outsider feelings had danger of snowballing into a major issue.

“I will counsel political leaders from all sides to be restrained in their reactions”, Senior Sena member and Former Lok Sabha speaker Manohar Joshi said in Rajya Sabha.

His comments came as Parliament yesterday witnessed uproar and adjournments over attacks on the North Indians and mega star Amitabh Bacchan by supporters of the Maharashtra Nav Nirman Sena of Raj Thackeray.

The moves to whip up anti-outsider or anti-North Indian feelings are confined only to a small section, but explosive reactions can blow it into a major issue, Joshi said reffering to the issue while speaking on the Motion of Thanks to the President for her joint address to the two Houses of Parliament.

He said that Shiv Sena Supermo Balasaheb Thackeray had condemned attacks on the cine star Amitabh Bachchan. Joshi also said that there were no widespread anti-outsider feelings in the state.

“I can safely vouch that all outsiders are safe in Mumbai”, the Shiv Sena leader said lambasting the state government for inaction to control the situation. He also blamed the Media for creating a “big hype” as if Mumbai was burning.
