Mumbai Akshay Kumar, Anees Bazmee and Vipul Shah created history when they came together last August in ‘Singh Is Kinng’. The film was a blockbuster success and kept the flag flying for each of the three men. However, come August 14, 2009 and each of these men will be encountering a face-off of sorts with their respective films clashing with each other at the box office.

After ‘Singh Is Kinng’, they had taken a break from each other and had begun work on different projects. So while Akshay immersed himself in half a dozen other projects with ‘Blue’ being one of the front runners, Vipul Shah, kick started ‘London Dreams’ with Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan. Meanwhile, Anees Bazmee returned to his prior commitment ‘It's My Life’ which is being widely looked as a re-launch of Hurman Baweja.

So, while ‘Blue’ and ‘London Dreams’ are already fighting it out for the 14th August slot, Anees Bazmee too has stepped in with plans of bringing his film on the same day.

"Yes, as of now, 14th August has been locked as the D-day. It's a good day and we want to take advantage of a long weekend", declares Anees Bazmee who now has the responsibility of giving Hurman his first box office success after the debacle of ‘Love Story 2050’ and ‘Victory’.

Isn't he worried about competition from two biggies starring some of the biggest superstars of the industry? "You can't really come on a Friday with no competition around you. There are bound to be other releases as well so even if ‘It's My Life’ has to contend with other films, I am fine with it", says Anees Bazmee.

If ‘It's My Life’ indeed arrives on August 14 and the other films too stick to their original plan, it would be a déjà vu situation for Hurman Baweja. His launch pad ‘Love Story 2050’ had faced immense challenge from widely publicized, promoted, marketed and appreciated film ‘Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Naa’.

Producer Sanjay Kapoor is more guarded in his response to the query though. "A film can move a week or two here and there. Yes, the tentative plans as of now are August 14 for the film but we will analyze the situation as weeks progress", says Sanjay Kapoor for whom ‘It's My Life’ is pretty much also been termed as a 'producer launch pad'.

"We have wrapped up the principal shooting of the film and there is no reason why we should hang on to the release. We begin post production soon and are making sure that ‘It's My Life’ does arrive in the month of August. Whether it will be 7th, 14th or 21st can be confirmed later", concludes Sanjay.

‘It's My Life’ features Genelia D'Souza as the leading lady opposite Hurman with Nana Patekar in a pivotal role. While ‘Blue’ is a biggie that features Akshay alongwith Sanjay Dutt and Lara Dutta with Zayed Khan, Katrina Kaif and Kylie Minogue. Meanwhile Asin is the leading lady in Salman and Ajay starrer ‘London Dreams’.

It will indeed be a rather interesting situation if the box office does witness a battle of action (Blue), musical (London Dreams) and romantic (It's My Life) genres over a long weekend.
