Skipper Jaiswal helps Rizvi enter semis

Mumbai, January 8 Skipper Pankaj Jaiswal (6-10) lead from the front to help Rizvi College of make it to the semi-finals of the Junior inter-collegiate Cricket tournament, defeating KG Mittal College by seven wickets in the quarter-final (45-overs) match at the New Hind Cricket Club, ground, Matunga on Monday.

Batting first, Mittal, who were 25 for no loss at one point, could not stand strong against Rizvi bowlers and were bundled out for a mere 70 in 24.2 overs with off-spinner Pankaj Jaiswal claiming 6 wickets and medium-pacer Swapnil More scalping three for 17.

In reply, the Bandra outfit easily achieved the target in 13 overs with the loss of three wickets. Middle-order batsman Faisal Balwa scored a fiery 31 (1x4, 4x6) in Rizvi’s innings.

Rizvi will meet Kandivali’s Thakur College in the semi-final to be played on Tuesday at Dadkar Maidan, Matunga, while the second semi-final will be played between Ruparel College and MD College.
