Chandigarh, January 27 Bhavneet Bhatia
Winner of four awards in painting and as many as seven appreciation certificates at the national level, this student of Class VII, Carmel Convent School, Sector 9, will be honoured for excellence in the field of art.
Bhatia says, “I started painting when I was in Class IV. I participated in a competition and won a prize. My interest in art grew. I am taking training from my teacher, S C Bhattacharya, and my mother also guides me.”
Bhatia’s other interests include learning classical music. Apart from being creative, Bhatia also excels in academics in the school. She says she has always scored above 90 per cent

Meenal Gakhar
A Class 12th student of Bhawan Vidyalya Sector 27, Meenal was selected for the commendation award certificate for academic excellence. A Sector 45A resident and daughter of Rajiv Kumar, she has visited Japan and France (2007), to participate in the cultural exchange and quiz contest respectively.
In May 2007, Meenal visited France after winning the All India Quiz contest organised by the French Embassy in India and Department of Science of Technology, Government of India.
Later, in December 2007, she went under the cultural exchange programme of Ministry of Human Resource Development, New Delhi. She also holds a superior diploma in French and was the youngest first-ranker in the exam. During her class 10th board examination in 2006, she was the city topper.

Hardeep Dhall
A Class VII student from Bhavan Vidyalaya, Sector 27, he was awarded with a commendation certificate for his contribution in skating and his performance as an athlete.
Son of Mayank Singh, General Manager, Khetan, Mohali, and Satya Bala, Sub-Inspector, Chandigarh Police, Hardeep aims to join the Army. Talking to Newsline, he said, “I want to become an Army officer and wish to serve the country. This award means a lot to me and I feel motivated and encouraged.” Hardeep aims to strike a balance between studies and sports but is more inclined towards the outdoor activity. He attributes his success to his mother and father.
