“I guess things fall in place when they have to. Kumar Mangat, the producer of the film, was quite keen that I be a part of Sunday. I play Ayesha Takia’s friend in the film. The role may be small but I add to the suspense of the film. I’m glad I did it because Rohit Shetty offered me Golmaal Returns as well,” says the petite model-actor excitedly.
The trained classical dancer, who recently hosted the Jodhaa Akbar music launch, is now keen to shed her eye-candy image acquired because of her earlier films. “I have always been offered films which required me to look glamorous but now I am keen to be known as a serious actor. I have Rohit to thank for that. Golmaal Returns, in which I play Tusshar Kapoor’s girlfriend, has a good dose of comedy. In my two forthcoming movies — Jai Veeru with Kunal Kapoor and Fardeen Khan, and Allah Ke Bande with Sharman Joshi — I play a model, but there are beautiful moments where I get to emote too.”
The actor, who has done her master’s in international business and foreign trade, had no intentions of becoming an actor, but has always been a film buff. “I insisted on seeing every film and my favourite actor was Govinda. I remember as a child I had gone to see a film shoot and he gave me a peck on my cheek. Imagine how tickled I was when I walked the ramp with him at a function for Salaam-e-Ishq? I also idolised Amitabh Bachchan and now revere him as a human being. When shooting for the Cadbury’s ad, he saw me standing in the sun and quickly sent his spot boy with an umbrella,” she smiles.
