London 'Slumdog Millionaire', a feel good film about a Mumbai tea-boy which bagged seven BAFTA awards, has built up "an extraordinary tidal wave of momentum" and is poised to sweep across the Atlantic to Los Angeles – the Oscars, the British media said on Tuesday.

"The (Sunday) night obviously belonged to Slumdog Millionaire, which has now built up an extraordinary tidal wave of momentum," 'The Guardian' said.

Its director Danny Boyle "won thousands more hearts and minds with his very charming and heartfelt speech" at the awards ceremony, the report said.

On the awards night, Boyle had said the prize was for Mumbai. "We are hugely indebted for everybody honoured and those who were nominated tonight, to the people of Mumbai especially the actors Anil (Kapoor) and Irrfan (Khan) and all the other young actors who helped us - Ayush and Azhar," said Boyle after accepting the award for Best director.

"It's landslide victory, and the best actress victory for Kate Winslet", who is a Briton too, "made this a tremendously good night for the British industry," the report said.

It described 'Slumdog Millionaire' as "an entertaining, likeable and brash modern fairy story shot with tremendous pizzazz but not exactly profound on the question of globalisation, poverty, 21st century India or anything else."

Many thanks to Boyle! by V.Muthuswami on 10 Feb 2009

Director Boyle deserves our praise and gratitude to expose boldly the underbelly of the most cherished commercial capital of India. India cannot aspire to be super-power of anything, it has to learn to understand and appreciate the problems faced by its citizens and has the strength, courage an "dharmic" action plans sooner than later.

Many thanks to Boyle! by A.Kader on 10 Feb 2009

Due to Boyle's fantastic film Slumdog millionaire our Indian artists have finally got the the praise and approval they deserve. Moreover Boyle depicts the true India, the poor India, why someone is ashamed of the truth ?Most of the Indians are suffering due to the greed of the rich and the corrupt politicians .Let the world always know the truth! Perhaps it can do some help to the poor, someone takes a little care to help them.
