Chandigarh, January 10 Haryana Police Department will soon form group housing societies at the state level to sort out the housing problem of police personnel. For this purpose, land will be acquired from HUDA so that private houses could be built for the families of police personnel. Director General of Police Ranjeev Dalal said this while presiding over a meeting at Haryana Police Academy, Madhuban yesterday. The main objective of this meeting was to review the various welfare programmes run by the department and their implementation.

The DGP informed that a proposal had been sent by the Haryana Police House Building Corporation to the Haryana government to provide a loan of Rs 400 crore through HDFC Bank, with which the corporation would be able to construct about 6,000 houses for their staff.

Dalal said that the state government had allocated an amount of Rs 52 crore for construction of residential and official buildings and Rs 8 crore for their maintenance. Keeping in view the on-going recruitment in Haryana Police, the present residential accommodation available with the Haryana Police Department was not sufficient.

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had assured that HUDA would make land available for all group housing societies of police department. He said that the number of police public schools would be increased and all possible steps would be taken to upgrade the education level in these schools. He urged all the senior officers and officials of the department to encourage children for active participation in education and other extra curricular activities.

Dalal also held a discussion on suggestions related to the department welfare programmes for the police personnel and granted permission for a boosting station at Sirsa police lines, to come up at the cost of Rs 10 lakh. A monthly newsletter `Madhuban’ was released by the DGP in which all the achievements and activities of the state police have been published.

DGP (Vigilance) P.V. Rathee, Additional Director General of Police (Human Rights) Mr Swaranjit Singh, Additional Director General of Police (Admn.) Rakesh Malik, Director, Haryana Police Academy V.N. Roy and other officers were also present on this occasion.
