Solan, January 22 The local unit of Bharatiya Janata Party today revoked the suspension of former member of national executive of party’s Kisan Morcha Devender Thakur. The party had last week suspended the Kisan Morcha leader on charges of anti-party activities. President of Solan unit J.L. Sharma had initiated the action against Devender Thakur after he had organised a “come, meet, sit and tell problems” programme, allegedly without consulting the party leadership.

The leaders of the unit had assumed that the programme of Thakur was tarnishing the image of the party in the public and leading to resentment amongst loyalists of Health Minister Dr Rajeev Bindal. Thakur was given two weeks to explain his position on the issue. Notably, earlier the local unit of the party had recommended initiating disciplinary action against at least 10 party leaders and activists on the alleged charges of indulging in anti-party activities during the Assembly elections.

J.L. Sharma, when contacted, said after receiving the Thakur’s reply, the unit had decided to revoke his suspension.
