Notably, earlier, the local unit of the party had recommended initiating disciplinary action against at least 10 party leaders and activists on the alleged charges of indulging in anti-party activities during the Assembly elections. The unit, after receiving a detailed report of the constituency’s election in charge Mohan Singh Thakur, had urged the state high command to take necessary action against these workers as they had allegedly sided with the rivals of party candidate Dr Rajeev Bindal in the elections.
Today’s action against Devender Thakur was initiated after he had organised a “come, meet, sit and tell problems” programme in the local rest house, allegedly without consulting the party leadership.
President of local unit of party J.L. Sharma said Devender Thakur not only organised the programme in the town, but also at Kandaghat, which caused great confusion among the masses. After this, the party had asked him to explain his position over the issue, but he did not bother to reply. Sharma said Devender Thakur had again been asked to submit his reply within a fortnight, failing which he would be expelled from the primary membership of the party.
