Solan, March 16 Acting tough against rebels of the party, the District Congress Committee today slapped notices on 42 leaders, including some office bearers, for allegedly indulging in anti-party activities during the Assembly elections in all the five Assembly segments of the district.

The District Congress Committee (DCC) has also asked the Block Congress Committees of Solan, Nalagarh and Kasauli to hold its meetings regularly with intimation to DCC, failing which disciplinary action would be initiated against all the presidents. Heads of these committees have been asked to hold meetings within a week.

Notably, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party had swept all the five constituencies in the polls. This had not only placed the frontline leaders in an embarrassing situation, but also caused resentment among candidates and their supporters. Candidates had alleged that some party workers had openly joined hands with rivals.

Sources said the decision to slap notices on all such rebels was taken in a meeting of all DCCs presidents, presided over by PCC chief Viplove Thakur, in Shimla on Saturday.

Confirming the news, DCC president Shiv Kumar told ENS that all rebels have been asked to explain their position within a fortnight, failing which orders to expel them from primary membership of the party would be issued.
