He needs his space and comfort in whatever he does. That’s exactly what ad-guy-turned-singer Krishna Kumar Kunnath, commonly known as KK, has proved with his recently launched album Humsafar, eight years after his earlier super-hit album, Pal, that lured the young and the old with his mellifluous voice.

“I enjoyed doing varied genres of music in Bollywood—Mujhe kuch kehna ha, Sach kah raha hai deewana to Koi kahe kehta rahe, Dus Bahane and Dil nashi dil nashi. For the last three years, however, I felt the need to compose and I thank my wife for motivating me. Humsafar has 10 songs and one Bengali folk song. It has slow and romantic numbers like Yeh kahan mil gaya, which is dedicated to my wife. I’m an extremely emotional person and my compositions are based on my moods.”

The album also has an English ballad Cineraria. “I’m comfortable with English and have always been a hardcore fan of Pink Floyd, Deep Purple and INXS.”

Like the earlier album, Pal, there's a video for the fun-filled romantic number-Aasman ke, featuring the singer and a south Indian model, Suhasi. “The song revolves around college life from their farewell party to their reunion get together.” All the lyrics of the songs are penned by Mehboob.

His allies in the industry are all into judging reality shows, but KK prefers to stay away. “The first and last time I did it was a few years ago. If not for singing or performing in public, I don't like coming on television. I am quite satisfied with what I am doing currently,” he justifies. His hands are full with several Bollywood projects—Jannat, ShowBizz, Race and a few others. When asked for a message to upcoming singers who participate in the reality shows, he signs off, “Be focused and don’t get carried away with the momentary glory as it’s a different world altogether in the industry.”
