Mumbai, January 29 Riding high on Fenil Soni’s brilliant hundred (131), Swami Vivekanand, International (Borivali) defeated IES New English, Bandra by 139 runs to clinch their maiden Bagubhai Khichadia cricket tournament title at the Khar Gymkhana ground on Tuesday.

Opting to bat first in the limited-overs final match, Swami Vivekanand did not start well as their skipper Siddhesh Lad (20), Shivam Mishra (13) and Harmeet Singh (16) were back in the pavilion without contributing much.

Thanks to some sensible batting by opener Soni, experienced middle-order batsmen Pratik Gawali (86 not out) and Sandeep Joshi (35 not out) helped Harris Shield champions post a competitive 314.

In reply, IES failed to handle quality spin attack of left-arm spinner Harmeet Singh, who scalped 6/45 to make sure that his school Swami Vivekanand walked away with their second title of the season.
