While the kiosk at the Jal Board’s headquarters is ready and waiting to be inaugurated, the other 11 are likely to be commissioned soon, the Board’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Arun Mathur said. “These kiosks are a facility for consumers to come and pay the bill; they will involve no human interface,” Mathur said. “This will save consumers time and the effort of standing in queues.”
About the first such kiosk at DJB’s headquarters at its Varunalaya office, Mathur said, “We are now only seeking a date from our (Jal Board) chairperson Sheila Dikshit to inaugurate it.”
The Jal Board is yet to finalise the date of commissioning of the other 11 kiosks, Mathur said. “They will be commissioned soon — all the kiosks will function from within the office compounds of DJB in various places. They will all be free of any human interface.”
The Jal Board, Mathur said, would bear the cost of processing the bills, and if the idea is successful, the civic agency plans to involve various Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs). “We want to approach various RWAs for space within their colonies; then consumers would not even have to visit our offices to pay bills,” the Jal Board chief said.
