Chandigarh, January 9 To Help reduce burden on railway reservation counters at ISBT-17, more counters are being planned at General Post Office, Panchkula and Chandimandir. The railways are also exploring the possibility of starting a counter at ISBT-43.

The issue of creating more counters for the tricity and the renovation of the existing centre in Sector 17 was taken up in a recent meeting between senior UT officials and the Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Ambala.

In the meeting, UT Home Secretary Krishna Mohan had asked railway authorities to open a reservation centre at the ISBT-43. The railways have reportedly agreed to take up the matter with higher authorities.

According to the plans , reservation centres in Sector 17 will be renovated in the next two months complete with new flooring, false ceilings, air-conditioning and new furniture.

“The area outside the existing reservation hall will be covered and used as a waiting area. Water coolers will also be installed at the centre,” said officials.
