“In case of any accident, it is the duty of the Government Railway Police to take the railway victim, dead or injured, to hospital. All support will be given by the Railway. There should be collective efforts to save the life of an injured or to take the dead to hospital for a postmortem.” That’s what Divisional Railway Manager (Central Railway) J N Lal said at a press conference on Friday, following media reports that a woman’s body had been lying on a Dadar platform for a long time earlier this week.
Sources said there was no ambulance at Dadar. Red Swastik, rendering an ambulance service for five years, recently withdrew its services owing to problems in getting parking place at the station.
CR’s Chief Public Relations Officer S Mudgerikar said: “The proposal is under process at the Railway Board to increase this amount from Rs 500 to Rs 750 per victim.”
