London Cash used in the spot-fixing scandal during last week's Lord's Test is understood to have been found in the belongings of Pakistan Test captain Salman Butt, a report said.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, Scotland Yard officers would question Butt over how marked notes were discovered from his hotel room and in his locker at the Lord's cricket ground.

The money is believed to have been part of 150,000 pounds handed over by an undercover News of the World reporter to the alleged fixer Mazhar Majeed, the newspaper said.

The cash, given to Majeed for fixing three no-balls of the Lord's Test between Pakistan and England, is understood to have been secretly marked so that it could be later identified by police.

According to the report, the recovered money was undergoing forensic tests to confirm police suspicions that it came from the News of the World sting.

"Early indications suggest the money found in possession of Butt originated from the sting. There are good reasons to believe this was the case," the newspaper quoted sources as saying.

The revelation came after the International Cricket Council had charged and provisionally suspended the tainted Pakistani trio -- Butt, pacer Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Aamer -- from all forms of the game pending a decision on the charges.

Match fixing by Kaka on 03 Sep 2010

Match fixing and ball tampering are not new to Pak cricket. This has been going on for a long time wih the help of PCB which itself is corrupt. Now Pakistan is finding lame excuses and putting the blame to Sharad Pawar. Nobody can match Pakistan in twisting things to fool the world.

Pakistan blames India and Pawar by rajkumar on 03 Sep 2010

Well we have BJP in India and Muslim parties in Pakistan which keeps blaming each other, stoke issues , and never address th real issues to win and stay in power. Using a new brand of patriotism both BJP and Pakistan parties have been fooling people. In pakistan Hindus , Christians and India are evil. In India for BJP Muslims is a soft ticket to win elections. Good for others - we are all made fools.

Pak cricketers in match fixing scandal by Tushar Kumar on 03 Sep 2010

Mohd. Asif is a perpetual offender. Nobody should expect clean gamemanship from Pak players. New match fixing incident doesn't surprise us. We need to bear with this and forget fixing case. We have to allow Pak players to play for their country.

Cash found in Butt's locker , Hotel room by Shirish on 03 Sep 2010

Ohh, sure it must be some ploy by Indians to defame the Pak cricketers and to put a pressure on poor and innocent players like Butt, Asif and Amir (so what if one was earlier caught at UAE for possessing drugs?- this also could be Indian ploy!!)and prevent them from playing cricket. Honourable Pakistan Envoy in London may please clarify this at the earliest- unlike last time when he took 4- 5 days to accuse India in the matter!!

THE FAILED STATE WITH THE FAILED CRICKETING FRATERNITY by S Kumar on 03 Sep 2010

The fact that marked currency notes have been found in the belongings and locker room of Salman Butt leaves no doubt whatsoever, that the trio were involved in match fixing/spot fixing. It is a mystery how Kamran Akmal has got away. The lame excuse by the PCB and the Pakistani HC in London that the players withdrew from the one day series voluntarily is an insult to any person's intelligence. Pakistani players have been indulging in match fixing over the years and getting away with it, because the PCB is a corrupt body and the ICC a toothless body who is interested in making money only. The spirit of the game of cricket, the sportsmanship of the game of cricket can go to hell as far these two controlling bodies are concerned. Pakistan is a failed state in all aspects and now their cricket has also failed them. Thank god Pakistan didn't blame the recent floods to some mumbo jumbo attributed to India. It is high time that Pakistan is thrown out of the International Cricket immediately.
