Mumbai, February 24: Defending his stand on the agitation against North Indian migrants, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray said the stir was not ‘unconstitutional’.

Responding to the comments of former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee's aide in then PMO Sudheendra Kulkarni, published in a Marathi newspaper, Thackeray said leave aside the rest of the country, in Maharashtra itself, every political party has indulged in political violence and political killings at some time or the other.

"Despite the entire media, especially Hindi and English media unitedly assaulting me, my party and Maharashtra, not a single worker of mine has hurt anyone in media either verbally or physically," Raj said.

Leaders from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and North Indian journalists have decided to tag what we are doing under the label of ‘goondagiri’, Raj said.

They (leaders and media) are doing this as their financial, cultural and political interests are intertwined, the 39-year-old estranged nephew of Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray said.

Leaders involved in political killings come to Maharashtra and teach me non-violence and journalists cosy up to them and dub me and my workers as goondas, Raj said.

"As a former Communist, you must be aware of the millions of killings that took place in Communist agitations," Raj told Kulkarni in his letter published in the same newspaper.

TRUTH IS BITTER by Ravi, Australia on 24 Feb 2008

I support Raj and for that matter whoever is up against the goondagiri of north Indians in general and Biharis in particular. For the past 50 years, people from rest of India are subjected to bullying and abuses by north Indians whether in schools, colleges or work places. Raj is straightforward for raising this issue. But they say Truth is bitter.

IMPOSE PROHIBITORY ORDERS ON BAL AND UDDHAV THACKERAY, TOO by HUM HINDUSTANI on 24 Feb 2008

Public opinion all over Mumbai, Maharashtra and India is gathering momentum against the narrow-minded parochial and divisive politics of Bal Thackeray, Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray and calls are increasingly being echoed among millions throughout the nation that the action of the State and Central Government and the police prohibiting Raj Thackeray from organizing demonstrations, rallies, processions, giving provocative statements in media, holding press conferences and shouting slogans to cause breach of peace or cause obstruction in the city should be extended to Bal Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray too. The media has been doing an excellent job having come out as the champion of our freedoms and it is also time for the judiciary, too, to show its mettle. All these three goondas - Bal Thackeray, Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray have first violated the laws and then justified their actions. They should be told that even one violation now would mean lengthy incarceration for them all and the political apparatus which depend on such goondas should also be told in no uncertain terms by the people, press, parliament and the judiciary that this will not be tolerated anymore. It is clear from all what they have done all these years - that they have created massive law and order problems which this poor nation can ill-afford because it costs millions and crores of rupees to manage the law and order situation created by their stupidity and goondagiri.

Ethical Governance by SKannath on 24 Feb 2008

Some of the main ethical issues that has to be fulfilled are equitable distribution of wealth, harnessing alternate energy resources, like wind, rain water and solar, social benefits like pensions, health care and employment. India is on threshold of achieving it, these distractions are meant to take people away from their basic rights.

India Breakers by Inder on 24 Feb 2008

It is very sad that people like Modi/Thackerays/ Advani etc exist in India. Before the Mougals came India was divided by states and they were fighting each other. Then the British took adavantage of our internal bickerings and ruled for centuaries. Patriots like Bhagat Singh, Lalaji, Subhash Chander Bose gave their lives for our freedom. All this for what? Our friends Modis/Thackerays will ensure that we go into slavery again by dividing us yet again. If BJP wins next elections people like Modi and Advani will certainly divide India on communal and religious basis. So get ready not long to go.

MIND IT : IT MINDS by Girish Bhardwaj on 24 Feb 2008

Mr. Raj beware some one is using you like MISSILE. Reason elections ahead. Use your mind as IT MINDS.Even then if you are blowing your own trumpet then its work of UPA definately.

BE WARNED: ALL YOUR OFFENCES ARE PUNISHABLE UNDER SEVERAL STATE AND CENTRAL LAWS AND THE STATE AND CENTRAL GOVERNMENT WILL NOT HESITATE TO RE-OPEN THE OLD FILES OF ALL YOUR MISDEEDS by MOTHER INDIA on 24 Feb 2008

All that Bal Thackeray, Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray have done so far is punishable under Chapter XVI, Chapter XVII and Chapter XXII of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), 1860.SO DESPITE THE LAWS, WHY IS THE GOVERNMENT NOT PROTECTING MILLIONS OF ITS CITIZENS FROM THESE THREE GOONDAS AND THEIR GOONDA OUTFITS? WHAT KIND OF BLOODY DEMOCRACY IS IT IF THERE IS NO SAFEGUARD OF LIFE, LIBERTY, PROPERTY AND FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT GUARANTEED BY OUR CONSTITUTION? ALL BLOODY LEADERS OF INDIA SHOULD HANG THEIR HEADS IN SHAME FOR BRINGING INDIA TO SUCH SORRY PASS AND PUTTING UP WITH THE NONSENSE OF THE THACKERAYS FOR SO LONG. HOW ARE INDIANS ANY DIFFERENT FROM THOSE KILLING EACH OTHER IN THE AFRICAN COUNTRIES OF KENYA AND RWANDA AND BURUNDI OR THOSE IN THE BALKAN STATES?

FINISH THE THACKERAY FAMILY OF GOONDAS ONCE AND FOR ALL by SHIVAJI GANESHAN on 24 Feb 2008

JUST THE PISS OF MILLIONS OF INDIANS IS ENOUGH TO DROWN YOU GOONDAS by Tukaram on 24 Feb 2008

Thackeray Family of Goondas are finished already as Raj Thackeray has already shot himself in the foot by uttering all that nonsense against millions of his fellow Indians and Hindus. Already Bal Thackeray is seething with fury at this empty-headed moron for raising the whole nation against the Thackeray family of goondas. And Thackerays do not represent the will of the majority of Marathas. I am a Maratha but not stupid like you to hike a ride on the Thackeray Merry-go-Round to be made a 'Bewaquoof' and an 'Ulu' that they have made of many poor and middle-class Marathis while amassing a lot of land, properties and a fortune beyond your wildest dreams. And no national interest is served by theeir narrow-minded, parochial and divisive politics. I am already out battling out you empty-headed morons like you because I am not afraid of Goondas like you and so are millions of other patriotic Indians whom you have antagonised. If all those millions of non-Marathi Indians start pissing on you handful of goondas, you will drown in their piss with your three goonda leaders.

Raj and Xenophobia by Megh on 24 Feb 2008

" Sovereign, Democratic, Secular Socialist Republic of India"- Thats what the constitution of India reads in its preamble. does it make any sense to Raj? Or is he interested in having his own version of the constituion, dictated my parochial xenophobic and racist politics? I'm sure there are hardened criminals amongst marathis just as any other state in India has. are we supposed to paint everyone with the same brush? UP and Bihar are a part of united India. It is the poor and downtrodden UPites and Biharis who are trying to eek out a living for their family members, which they are unable to do so in their own states. They have to fend for thir families just as us. do we kick them below the belt? thats being UN-INDIAN.

WHO ARE YOU TO DECIDE WHETHER IT IS CONSTITUTIONAL OR UNCONSTITUTIONAL? IN A CONSTITUTIONAL DEMOCRACY, IT IS THE JUDICIARY WHO DECIDES THAT AND THE SUPREME COURT HAS ALREADY DECLARED YOUR WHOLE SET-UP UNCONSTITUTIONAL by BHARAT BHOOMIPUTRA on 24 Feb 2008

It’s clear these semi-literate Dehati goondas have not heard of or know anything about the doctrine of the rule of law. This doctrine, sacrosanct in any democracy, is that no individual, however powerful, is above the law. The principle had a significant influence on attempts to restrain the arbitrary use of power by rulers and politicians and on the growth of legally enforceable human rights in many Western democracies. It is this doctrine that separates legislative from judicial power. The most important application of the rule of law is the principle that governmental authority is legitimately exercised only in accordance with written, publicly disclosed laws adopted and enforced in accordance with established procedural steps that are referred to as due process. The principle is intended to be a safeguard against arbitrary governance, whether by a totalitarian leader or by mob rule. Thus, the rule of law is hostile both to dictators and to anarchists like Thackerays. All the 3 Thackerays have been educated in some Marathi medium panchayati-run village schools. Time your parents sent you to some proper schools as you need to learn all your lessons again. Let us also tell this self-proclaimed Thomas Jafferson Dada that the Indian public is in a fine fettle to teach you some very hard lessons unless you show a marked improvement in your behaviour which at present is nothing but GOONDAGIRI AND DAKUGIRI. No educated and refined person would behave the way U 3 do.
