Shimla, August 13 Student organisations have swung into action for the Students’ Central Association (SCA) elections.

Student Federation of India (SFI) and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) today set into motion their campaign, with privatisation of education and pathetic condition of facilities for students in the university, respectively, being their top agendas. Next come routine demands of better hotel facilities, transportation, facilities for research scholars and expansion of girls’ hostels.

The SFI is trying to generate an opinion against privatisation and commercialisation of education, while the ABVP is going all out to highlight the violence and disturbance of academic environment the university has suffered under the leadership of the SFI.

The NSUI, under the leadership of newly-appointed state president Vivek Kumar, is not just focused on the HPU campus, but has divided up the districts. It has also come up with a unique mode of camping among students, with the NSUI president opting to visit all colleges in the state to campaign.
