Stung after Anil Kumble and his comrades-in-arms halted the Australian juggernaut, denying them a record 17th straight Tests win, the media here cried foul, blaming the defeat to India's financial clout and the game's ‘weak-kneed’ governing body.
"India's stunning performance in the third Test at the WACA should be dedicated to a lot more than the 11 players out on the field," a whining report in the 'Courier Mail' said.
"They should share their pay cheques with their bullying officials back home, the weak-kneed administrators at the International Cricket Council and certain members of the media who have taken every opportunity to put the knife into the Aussies since this series began," Mike Colman wrote in the daily.
The barrage of criticism after the acrimonious Sydney Test had forced Ricky Ponting and his teammates to discard their ruthlessness and the rather civilised approach to the game never really worked for them, he said.
"Remember that scene in one of the Rocky movies where Rocky's trainer tells him he's no longer feared by his opponents?
'Kid,' he says, 'the worst thing that could happen to a fighter happened to you. You got civilised.'"
"In the space of a week the Australians got civilised...So instead of a confident, arrogant, winning team, we get a nice, civilised one. Maybe a losing one," it rued.

Look at the facts, Singh racially abused Symonds, He has done it before and 4 Aussies heard him, Are you claiming that 4 Aussies are lying ??.... Singh knows he did it, He only got off because the BCI held a gun to the ICC's head and threatned to act like babies and "take thier bat and ball and go home" if they didnt get what they wanted. The Aussies play fair and hard so get over it, If the umpires make bad decisions like they did in Sydney, how is that Australia's fault ?, if the decisions went against the Aussies you would not be whinging the way you areJust look at the websites in Aus, SA, England etc...... The whole world knows the way you have behaved............ like spoilt brats!Cant wait to flog you tomorrow night, What will be your excuse this time ?
Downfall started and Aussies will become nowhere by next world cup.Although any test match win is great, this win at Pearth can be rated at the same level of 1983 WC Win, 20/20 WC win and Kolkotta Test Win.Hats off to AK and his team. Special thanks to AK for spreading Gandhigiri in Australia by withdrawing case against Hogg. With this he not only scored over aussies, but reminded the world cricket (esp. south africa) how to play cricket.
Yes. Cricket is a gentleman's game, and only gentlemen should play the game. If by playing that way, the Australians have lost the test, so be it. It is better to play a game in the true spirit, than to be arrogant and uncivilised and win a game.
sour grapes
He makes the point that the whole world is saying. Australians are uncvilised and the only way they can win is by cheating and bullying the opposition.
They massacred the aborigins and are occupying their land. Aussies have never been civilised. They should be thankful to India for taming them. One more kick and they shall be on mother earth. They got high when likes of Sharad Pawar accepted their rude behaviour and push from the stage.Aussies only understand the language of a kick- a hard one on their behind.Bravo Team India.
As the reporter said Australians have become civilians, we should feel proud of making them civilians :-) . That is the biggest achievement that Indian Team done along with historic win over them. So once again Indians have proven that we can make uncivilized people civilized. Great Team India keep it up.
Aussies please call Bucknor
What Mike Coleman says is that the Aussies have to be arrogant and uncivilized to win ..... finally someone in Australia has discovered the TRUTH which the rest of the world has known for the last 15 years .....
Well Done India, you deserved your win but its funny how a week ago the Aussies were described as "bad sportsman" for jumping around and celebrating a great win but yesterday your team did exactly the same thing !!Why is it ok for you but not us ??....Double Standards !!And what is the racist Singh doing running on with the flag, he wasnt even playing....not good enough to make the team hahahaPerhaps the Aussies should behave like babies and stay on our bus or stay in our room and cry ;like you did ?? Nah, The Aussies are too proud and classy for thatBring on Adelaide, it will be great to send you home 3-1 losers ;-)
HI Gooner, how come your IQ is so low. Let talk straight: at Pert the Australians were getting paid in the same coin they paid Indians at Sydney!! And at Sydney the Australians were rude not only after the game but all thoriugh insluding calling Kumble and Dhone and Ganguly B****d (the last one according to their own admission. Most importantly they calimed ctaches and wisckeys when they knew they were clearly wrong. The problem for the Australians in pert was that they did not have their most prolific runne getters and wicket takers from Sydney: Steve Bucknor and Co."
Welcome to the new world, Gooner !! Browns rule !! Or maybe the white world is not "man" enough to accept that truth ??!!?? No worries mate, we'll repeat the lesson in Adelaide just in case ya'll missed it in Perth !! Cheers !!
Whooaaa , Whoooaaa , Whoooaaa , Whoooaaa .....
HI COLMAN,U HAVE GREAT SENSE OF HUMOR.YES ,INDIANS WILL SHARE THEIR FAT CHEQUE WITH BCCI.HOW MUCH U GOT FOR WRITTING THIS JUNK.DO U KNOW WHAT IS CRICKET.
I suggest that the Australian cricketers should start having Idli, Dosai and vadai for breakfast, Sambhar, rasam and rice for lunch and dinner, and may be a couple of aloo parattha and rajma for dinner. Try eating green chillies for salad. It may make a difference
I agree wholeheartedly with the Aussie media.Let us be honest, first of all Australia had only 11 players instead of customary 13 and occasionally even 14 players. You and I might think of them as Umpires, but hey, not when you are in Australia. As very gracious hosts, they weave all these officials into their own team.Take the example of their local hero opener. He was given out the very first time he nicked one to the Indian wicketkeeper! And horror of horror, a young bowler of Indian descent, Ishant Sharma was allowed by these on field Umpires to bother the greatest batsman Ricky 'holier-than-thou' Ponting for a full seven overs without being warned even once by the Umpires. The least they could have done was to pull him up for things like landing on the restricted area!!It was ok that the umpires gave Sachin Tendulkar LBW out when he was not out and Ricky Ponting got away with three LBWs against him, but for goodness's sake, how in the name of heaven they dared to give Symonds OUT when he was actually NOT OUT?Don't they know that they are allowed to make mistakes ONLY in favour of Australia? In all, it was not a fair and balanced game.I say, award Adelaide game to Australia already.
Hehehe... very funny! I guess we should take his whine as a compliment. The Ozzies cannot win like gentlemen, they have to lie, cheat, and sledge. The moment you take that "unfair advantage" from them, well, they crumble. A truly invincible team.... indeed!! I think he bet on the wrong team and is a little pissed.
who is this moron Mike? how many test matches he has played, how many runs he has scored? has anyone heard of him till now? even the dog on our street barks in the night and gets attention, but we really dont take him seriously...
Can you belive this piece-o-shit Mike Colman? He is complaining that India won the test with more than 11 while it was his pussies team that needed the 2 umps to help their 11 to win the Sydney test. What a dumbfart! All Indian dudes, stop reading his garbage - let them idiots trust what this low life thinks he knows.
Lets give them some space to share their feelings too as their pride is destroyed and are unable to swallow the defeat. At the same time we accept that Australian team is the best, but not invincible as they wanted to be. So, the next aspect they should start learning is to adjust to defeats and not whine when they lose. And a last advice to Australia is "please dont stoop to conquer" because others can also stoop much lower than they can.
What does he mean - are Autralian cricketers "fighters" like Rambo? Are we here to"settle our differences" with "fistfights"...- as Vivian Richards once famously remarked to Allan Border
Only an Indian could civilized these Aussies, Like Mahatma Gandhi civilized the British
