Stung Jothikumaran sues TV channel

Chennai, May 2: Suspended secretary of the disbanded Indian Hockey Federation K Jothikumaran filed a suit against the television channel, that did a sting operation on him, claiming damages of Rs 25 lakh.

"Indian Hockey Federation and K Jothikumaran have filed a civil suit in the High Court of Chennai against Aaj Tak, the television broadcasters to declare that their telecast under the subject "Sting Operation - Operation CHAK DE" is concoctive, fabricated and fictitious in order to lower the status of IHF and K. Jothikumaran and claiming damages of Rs 25 Lakhs," Jothikumaran said in a statement.

Jothikumaran was caught on camera accepting bribe for puportedly selecting a player in the national team.

The sting operation stunned the hockey fraternity and resulted in the KPS Gill-headed IHF being suspended by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).
