kolkata, April 28 State transport minister Subhas Chakraborty still believes that he will be inducted in the party’s top position, either in the state secretariat or the Central Committee, the highest policy making body.

A day before the politburo is scheduled to meet in Kolkata, Chakraborty once again said that former chief minister Jyoti Basu will put up the issue before the politburo on Tuesday. “I believe that Jyotibabu will raise the issue in the politburo meeting. If it does not happen, what can I do,” said Chakraborty, when asked about the possibilities of his induction in the CC or the state secretariet. The politburo will meet in Kolkata so Basu can attend the meeting. Earlier, Basu had said Chakraborty should be inducted in the Central Commitee, or at least in the state secretariat.

“After the party congress, I met Basu and told him about my aspirations. He listened to me,” said Chakraborty.

Party sources said Thursday’s politburo meeting is scheduled to discuss the upcoming panchayat polls.
