Miction, management plus fiction, is how author, Virender Kapoor describes his new book- My honeymoon with a pinch of salt. With a title that is bound to rouse any reader's curiosity, the book is about achieving a balance between one’s work and family life. Written in the form of a fictional story, it traces the lives of a young successful couple, Santanam and Yamini, from professional success, to a family crisis, to finally finding harmony and fulfilment. The author has incorporated a melange of characters, where each have their own message to convey. "The book reaches out to all sections of society, and holds answers for young single people, people in relationships, married couples and even parents," says the author.

Describing the title, the author says, "Honeymoon is a good, happy time in their life, while a pinch of salt refers to minor adjustments that have to be made." Explaining further he says, "Instead of driving your car at 100 miles per hour, drive at 80, which would be making a 20 per cent adjustment." According to him, what sets this book apart from others of the same genre, is that it is contemporary, fast paced and most importantly, practical. "The desire to write this book stems from observing the lifestyle the current generation has adopted," he says. Further, he adds, "High divorce rates, diabetes and heart disease among the young are a frightening trend and greatly disturb me." He also attributed high divorce rates to the role that parents play as instigators, instead of pacifiers. "The book holds an important lesson for parents on how they can play the role of peacemakers," he says.

The author of two successful books on success, Virender Kapoor is a telecom engineer, with a post graduate degree in computer science from IIT Bombay. He is currently the Director of Symbiosis Institute of Telecom Management, a Premier Business School in India. "Maintaining a balance is a constant effort", he says. "One has to conduct regular audits of their lives, and always be thankful to god for all that he has blessed you with". About the book, he says "Books can motivate you and set you thinking, but they cannot transform your life. If a reader is able to pick up even a few points from the book, my purpose is served."
