"In my opinion, surgical strikes cannot be carried out in Pakistan," he told reporters in Islamabad when asked about the possibility of India carrying out surgical strikes.
"We have maintained a force level which is adequate for deterrence. And we have the resolve to use the force if there is any danger," Musharraf said.
The country would respond to any eventuality with full force, he said ahead of his departure for the US to deliver guest lectures.
Musharraf said threatening statements would only create tensions and people should not make such statements for "political expediency".
Replying to a question, he said the Mumbai attacks had led to war hysteria in both India and Pakistan. The former military ruler, who resigned last year to avoid impeachment by the PPP-led ruling coalition, refused to comment on the government's handling of the situation in the wake of the Mumbai attacks.
"Let them handle it. We expect the best," he said. Stating that the root causes of terrorism need to be addressed, Musharraf added that the time had come to resolve the Kashmir and Palestine issues.
"Political disputes like Palestine and Kashmir have to be resolved. Israel has adopted a regressive policy to deal with the issue by attacking Palestinians in Gaza. They are deteriorating the situation," he said.

MR. Musharaf, Do one thing, keep away from Gilani, zardari etc.. take rest at home with your Army service pension. The more it is delayed, the more you will get into trouble, in this case at least you will not loose your pension. As per your custome in Pakistan, Sooner or later zardari will either send you to prison or will make you " REST IN PEACE "

Mr. Mushraaf. Do you think, that your army would be able to continue to safely train terrorists by possing nuke threat? How long your pakistani leaders (who ever may be) keep on bluffing and threatining the whole world? What is the relation between kashmir and your ISI training terrorists and send them to our country? Do you think that, training terrosists and send them to other counties, killing their citizens are small things to go away with bluffling? It is hight time that a coliation like second world war should be formed with USA, Europian Union, Isreal and India to finish this terrorist problem once for all by all possible means.
Mush is trying to prove that he is the only protector of Pak, and still calling the shots? does it mean that he had given instructions to "paki terrorist groups" to carry out Mumbai attack in India. does it also mean that these groups are under his control, and protected by Pak army, under his influence?By repeatedly raising kashmir,and gaza issue and sarcastic comments he has shown how elated he is over mumbai carnage? By snubbing world community and India for condemning mumbai carnage on one hand and declaring that pakistani forces are strong? shows his double speak and he is trying to raise war hysteria and giving an indirect hint that that pakistani " State Actors" may be supporting groups responsible for mumbai carnage and other terrorist activities in India and other countries.

Three reasons : 1. He is a fox under a sheep skin. Note that he has installed his pick to lead the current Army. So he still may be a proxy in running that department. 2. With war starting only Army will become a power center again and Army rule (ie. Musharraf) shall again prevail. A back door entry to the power. 3. His statement comes before his US visit. This also acts in attempt to improve his market $$$ ratings for his "guest lectures"

This is with reference to the comments passed by my friend John jacobs. Well i have all symathies of those innocent killed by terrorisits in India or elsewhere. but also feel sorry for the more millitant approach indians people like my frriend has adopted to go for all out war or taunting the past of pakistan or even disgusting our economic situation. My advice to all such people is to please refrain from such devilish thoughts and try to cool down the temperature. it is easy to pass warmongering comments then actually going for war. I am not sure the people whiping war scenario will be willing to send their near and dears ones on battle ground or want to see the death of only other. Dear Mr Khan,I know it pains to hear and digest the truth which is always bitter.Why and what makes you feel insulted if the facts are spoken?None has used derogatory language or has intentions to insult anyone.Being poor is no matter of shame.Whole India was poorest nation and after partition today's India gave little money to newly created Pakistan which India couldn't afford.Both nations are equally young.Pak had much more resources and help from Islamic nations like Saudis while India struggled itself and left Pakistan 100 years behind.In general Pakistanis are no less intelligent and are hard working folk but remains in the same state of affairs as it was during partition.The whole infrastructure is the same and even some places it is retrogressive.India has millions poor and very poor people but it has progressed enough to be recognized by the world a economic hub and one of the major power on the world stage.Is it not because the common and sincere citizens of Pakistan are being exploited and misled by few very rich politicians or dictators wo never served the real cause and needs of the people!To retain or gain power Pak leaders are perpetually committing crime against own people first before they do injustice to others.I assure you I too love India above all but won't hate or have any hard feelings about Pakistani folk because I know they were once our own.Moreover what you read in comments or blogs is more of frusration than act of sensible minds which is well justified in such situation.I find it good to see your love for your country which one must but I would rather ask you(not advice)to concentrate more to get-rid from malicious and cunning socalled leaders who propagate India's intentions to attack Pak just to divert public from the actual problems which are driving Pakistan to bankruptcy and a failed state.We Indians and Pakistanis have more in common than few contraversies.Be bold and brave to digest the facts.Appericiate your love of Land.One sincere question,Do you think Mr. Zardari is capable person to be Prez?Look at his mental situation and other health reports.His ailments aren't mere cause of embarassment to Pakistan but a danger to escalate sitation or say worsen relations with other countries.

I am an Indian and I am inclined to think like Omar Khan: Warmongering does more harm than good. Further, an averge Pakistani and an average Indian do not want war; they want to be peaceful neighbours. But what should India do if the ISI starts sending trained suicide bombers to India and the democratic leadership there is so weak that it cannot even have the courage to accept the truth and cannot arrest the terrorists? Should India wait for another 60 years for Pakistan to bring the rogue elements in ISI under control? If some members of the ISI have declare an unofficial war on India, should the Government of India just sit back and the accept lame excuses and arguments posed by a weak democratic Government that cannot control it's own ISI? I don't want war, but it is not clear to me whether India has any other option left given the internal state in Pakistan.

According to Musharraf it is unreasonable for India to get caught up in war hysteria as the Pak terrorists exercised no more than their fundamental right to kill and mayhem a few innocent civilians and destroy some property. Musharraf couldn't believe for the life of him why the Indians should be so foolish as to ratchet up a war cry which could be stilled by his forces for all time to come. The benign and peace loving former general held out a promise of eternal peace in exchange for surrendering Kashmir to Pakistan. You are absolutely right Mush! Surgical strikes would not do the trick. What is needed is a total, comprehensive and round the clock bombardment to drive some some sense into your thick head. When that happens, your godfather will not dare to lift even his little finger to help you.
Mr. Musharraf how easily and how soon you can forget your own blunder of attacking India in most treacherous way.The result was another humilation to whole Pakistan and reason was only you and your melevolent passion of adventurism.Being too ambitous and over-confident Being over-confident and over-estimating your strength/capacities and capabilities will only ditch Pakistan more and more.Having been humilated time and agains still so big words depict only low intelect and foolish stubborness.How far Pakistan is ready and response India knows better than you can even imagine.Empty pot makes much noice.Possessing few nuke weapons is no detterence.See through the plight of the 80% population and zero reserves.From failed economy and complete dependence on charities from other nations Pak should learn to be humble and realistic which will give better picture of Pak and little pride.Present Pak regime is absolute inefficient and war possibility is mere alibi.
