Talking to the media in Vijayavada , Naidu alleged the Congress-led ruling coalition was facing problems from its allies.
The Left parties are hesitantly supporting the government while a few regional outfits like Telangana Rashtra Samithi have already pulled out of the UPA. Now Mayawati’s BSP has threatened to withdraw support, Naidu said.
He said after the 2004 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP was on a comeback trail in the states. The party has won four of the five Assembly elections in the last couple of years.
He said BJP’s National Council would meet on January 28- 29 at Delhi after the National Executive Committee meeting on January 27 to review the current political situation and draw a comprehensive agenda for the party.
Naidu accused the Congress of indulging in votebank politics and charged the UPA Government with failure to curb terrorism.
Referring to Telangana statehood issue, he said instead of linking the matter with the Second States Reorganisation Commission, the government should consider division of Andhra Pradesh to settle the decades-old question.
“The division of the state should not be delayed as it is necessary for economic development of a particular region.
Decentralisation of power is a must for administrative convenience,” the former Union Minister stated.
Earlier, he met local BJP leaders and spoke about party’s victory in Gujarat and Telangana issue.
