Mumbai, May 30 Crime Branch obtains copy of her confessional statement to a magistrate; it corroborates police version of events leading to the murder & thereafter

The Mumbai Police Crime Branch on Friday received a copy of Kannada movie actress Mariah Monica Susairaj’s confessional statement that was recorded before a magistrate under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code. According to Crime Branch officials, the confession, which runs into six pages, corroborates the police’s version of the sensational Neeraj Grover murder case.

Susairaj and her naval officer boyfriend Emile Jerome Mathew were arrested by the Crime Branch on May 21 for their alleged roles in the May 7 murder of Grover, a top executive at Synergy Adlabs and a former creative head at Balaji Telefilms.

“We have received a copy of the confessional statement today. It runs into six pages, and from start to finish, Susairaj has corroborated whatever the police have said took place leading up to the murder, the act of the murder itself, and the disposal of the body,” said Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rakesh Maria.

In an indication that Susairaj had been using Grover to land a role in a tele-serial, the police claim she clearly told the magistrate that she did not have any feelings for Grover, and though not mentioning it in so many words, indicates that she and Grover had been physically intimate the night before he was murdered.

“She begins her confession narrating how she met Grover in March 2008, while he was still working for Balaji Telefilms. At one point, she has clearly stated that she did not have any feelings for Grover. Nevertheless, she still indicates that she had sex with him the night before he was murdered. She also clearly states that she had sex with Mathew twice after the murder,” said Maria.

The confession gives a blow-by-blow account of how Grover arrived at Susairaj’s apartment; how Mathew overheard him while speaking to Susairaj on the phone; how Mathew stabbed Grover with a kitchen knife; and the way in which Grover’s body was cut into pieces and disposed of.

“In her confession, she also admits how she went to Malad police station and lied about Grover’s disappearance. She also details how she was in touch with Mathew over the phone from May 10 till she was picked by the Crime Branch for questioning on May 16, and how he advised her on the best course of action and what to tell the police,” said Maria.
